On the 3rd November there will be a special launch of the book as part of the Hugh O’Flaherty Memorial Award to the Irish Rescue Services in Killarney House, Killarney, 8pm.

The legacy of Hugh O’Flaherty and his selfless dedication to helping others is deeply moving, especially as I navigate the intensive rigors of my current PhD research and try to embody that same spirit of service. Balancing my doctoral studies with a part-time job at Last Minute Assignment has given me a front-row seat to the modern student experience, where the desire to engage with history and community memorials often clashes with the reality of crushing academic deadlines and complex technical projects. This event announcement carries such a strong sense of purpose and community spirit. It reminded me of attending a local memorial program during my school years, where the stories shared left a lasting impression. Around that busy period, I even thought about whether to hire someone to do my class for me just to keep up. Moments like these highlight how meaningful gatherings can stay with us long after they end.
